Pictionary with Grapetooth
by Rachel Cabitt
Roommates Clay Frankel and Chris Bailoni have lived in four different apartments within the past three years. One was only for thirty days while they were in-between spots, while two others were with notorious landlords, Paul and Sam, or as he signed notes, “SFTB— Sam From The Building.” Their first landlord, Sam said he had “anal retentive personality” and would leave typewritten notes under the door. Paul, their second landlord was silent and never there when they needed him. Sam was their favorite if they had to choose, he had some style, while it was rather offensive, and Paul, well he just thinks they owe him four thousand dollars. Now they live in a nice apartment with a nice landlord whom they have no complaints about and are making music as new wave disco punk duo Grapetooth. Before their sold out NYC debut at Baby’s All Right, they sat down with us over a few beers to draw portraits of each other and Paul.
