Setlist: Lala Lala
Photographed by Kelsey Wagner
At a very sold out Baby’s All Right, POND caught up with Lillie West, lead singer of Chicago’s Lala Lala, a week before the release of her sophomore album. At the beginning of the year, Lillie confided in us and Chastity Belt’s Annie Truscott, that her favorite thing about being sober was, “Remembering everything. Getting shit done. My relationships.” Nine months later, we have The Lamb, which was inspired by West’s sobriety. Turning a new leaf, the twenty four year old explains, “It’s like a baby sheep learning to walk.” After double checking how many syllables are in a haiku (we make every second grade teacher proud), Lillie diligently worked her way through this Setlist, where no color went unused. Looking at it from afar, the Setlist is very reminiscent of The Lamb; playful, aware, and sentimental. Be sure to catch Lala Lala on tour with Mothers this fall and listen to The Lamb, out on Hardly Art, below.
